I’m Ryan Elias, and earlier this summer I was honored to join Scouting America as Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer. After nearly two decades in higher education philanthropy, I’m thrilled to be part of this storied movement—helping Scouting programs grow and continue changing lives across the country.
This has been an inspiring year for Scouting America. Across the nation, our volunteers, supporters, and staff are creating life-changing opportunities for young people. From Georgia to Hawaii, Marcia and Lizzy share their passion for working with youth, giving them a voice, and showing them they are part of a 57-million-member global Scouting family.
Sponsored by Distinguished Eagle Scout Dave Alexander, the new Multisport merit badge gives Scouts the chance to experience the challenge of swimming, biking, and running. Troop 737 in Evergreen, Colorado, was among the first to complete it, proving the badge is both fun and achievable for Scouts of all abilities.
Pro Football Star and Scouting America spokesperson David Montgomery is featured in two new commercials debuting this fall on Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+ and YouTube TV. In each, he reflects on how Scouting gave him the foundation to succeed, first as a Cub Scout and now as a professional athlete.
