Scouting Alumni Give Back: NESA Scholarships Open Dec. 1, 2024
By Bri Offord
National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) scholarships recognize and reward the outstanding achievements of Eagle Scouts. Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, we can continue fostering leadership and service by nurturing the potential within our fellow Eagle Scouts. This support gives Scouts the financial support they need to achieve their educational goals and take the next step in their lives.
The National Eagle Scout Association established the NESA Legacy Society in 2013 as a way for individuals to make a direct contribution to the national NESA endowment fund. This fund supports Eagle Scout scholarships, NESA committee service grants, career networking, and encouragement for all Scouts who wear the Eagle Scout badge.
Fellowship in the NESA Legacy Society is open to any currently registered youth or adult Scouter who has first been recognized as a James E. West Fellow, whether they are Eagle Scouts or members of NESA. All contributions should be in addition to regular support of an individual’s local Council fundraising programs. First, become a James E. West Fellow in your local Council. James E. West Fellowship will be confirmed before being granted fellowship in the NESA Legacy Society. To join, donate a minimum of 1,000 dollars to the NESA Legacy Society Endowment. Individuals may also gift an NESA Legacy Society Fellowship on behalf of someone else, such as in honor of an Eagle Scout or memory of a special individual. If gifting a NESA Legacy Society Fellowship, the individual receiving the gift must be a James E. West Fellow.
Whether you know an Eagle Scout who is a high school senior, an undergraduate student, or participating in a skilled trade program, this is your opportunity to give back in a way that will benefit the future leaders of our nation. Your contributions help ease the financial burden of education and provide a platform for these Scouts to amplify their impact on the world. It’s not just about what they can achieve; it’s about the positive change they can bring to their communities and beyond. The scholarship application portal will be open from Dec. 1, 2024, through Jan. 31, 2025.
